General information about your trips onboard a DAN AIR aircraft
The check-in for DANAIR flights can be done online or at the airport.
Online check-in- is available starting 72 hours before the flight up to up to 12 hours before departure on our website or in the mobile app.
For passengers that haven`t booked a preferential seat, the online check-in implies the acceptance of a random seat allocated free of charge. If a passenger wishes to be seated on a specific seat, they can book it, by paying the respective fee, before finalizing the check-in.
The following passenger categories cannot check-in online:
- unaccompanied minors
- passengers transporting weapons
- passengers rejected at the entrance to the country or deported (INAD/ DEPU/DEPA)
- non-EU passengers on international flights, whose visa or residence permit for the country of destination must be checked at the check-in counter in the airport of departure
- passengers traveling with pets in cabin (PETC)
- passengers traveling to/ from Damascus.
Airport check-in is available starting with 2 hours before the flight, up to 40 minutes before departure. Starting with the winter season 2024- 2025, a fee will be charged for airport check-in as set out in the Taxes and tariff rules section.
The following passengers are exempted from the airport check-in fee:
- passengers for whom the online check-in option is restricted (categories listed above),
- passengers who have issued their boarding passes online but go to the check-in counters to drop-off their hold baggage
- passengers who have purchased the Premium fare package.
Passengers who have completed the online check-in and don`t travel with checked-in baggage can go directly to the boarding gate 40 minutes before departure.
Passengers with electronic boarding pass that also have checked-in baggage must be at the check-in desk at least 90 minutes before departure to drop-off the baggage.
Please note that check-in opening and closing times may vary depending on airport facilities. For specific details, please refer to the website of your departure airport.
Passengers that arrive after check-in closure can no longer be processed and will be declared no show, losing the right to board the respective flight.
Before accessing the boarding area, all passengers must undergo a security check performed by airport/authorities’ representatives. During this check, all passengers must go through a metal detector. Passengers with pacemakers or any type of metal implant who wish to avoid metal detector scan can advise the security personnel and they will undergo a manual check. In this situation a medical certificate is also necessary.
Your cabin baggage will be examined by X-ray scanning. All items containing metals, such as keys electronic devices, wallets will be scanned separately. If necessary the security personnel will request that you open your baggage for a visual/ manual inspection.
We recommend you always keep the following items with you (in the cabin baggage): medicine, cash and credit cards, personal ID, insurance policies, contracts and other important documents, jewellery, fragile items, and electronic devices (laptops, cameras, chargers).
We advise you to go through the security check as soon as you finish your check-in to ensure you are present in time for boarding. Any delays caused by security or passport control checks exempt us from any refunds in case of a missed flight.
Liquids, aerosols and gels
All liquids, aerosols and gels must be presented separately during the security check. They must be packed in a resealable transparent plastic bag that permits examination of the contents. They must be packed in containers of a maximum of 100 ml. And the total amount allowed in the cabin baggage should not exceed 1l. Baby food is exempt from this limitation.
Liquids, aerosols and gels exceeding 100 ml used for medical purposes, necessary during the flight, can be transported in the cabin baggage if you present the medical certificate.
To ensure flight safety, all passengers must respect the security measures issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and those of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regarding baggage transport.
Lithium batteries or rechargeable lithium batteries (commonly used in consumer electronic goods such as laptops, cell phones, watches, and cameras) can only be transported in the cabin baggage.
We recommend you follow the cabin crew`s instructions regarding storage and usage of these devices during the flight.
We reserve the right to refuse the transport of any passenger who does not comply with the safety regulations regarding dangerous goods.
The stroller is tagged and transported as hold baggage as part of the baggage allowance. If you want to transport checked-in baggage and a troller for an infant/toddler you will need to pay for an additional baggage. The stroller may be comprised of 2 or more pieces (frame+ seat+ +adaptors). If you have a compact stroller that folds to the dimensions 40x30x20 cm you can transport it in the cabin instead of the small carry-on baggage, following the same procedure as for the hand baggage (measure it in the sizer at the check-in desk/ boarding gate, tag it accordingly and place it under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment).
For a more comfortable experience through the airport, you can request to have your stroller tagged at the check-in desk but use it until you reach the aircraft.
